Organic wines from Sud de France

I went along to the organic wine tasting at the Maison de Languedoc Rousillon in central London last week to check out the wines on offer. Without exaggerating, the wines were fantastic, especially the value for money on offer. The majority of producers were looking for a distributor which makes you think how hard it is on some of these producers to be able to make such high quality wines without being picked up by someone in the UK. Of course they’re not the only ones with this predicament but it re-addresses the issue that perhaps the UK wine market is flooded with the wrong sort of wine. Why not pull in some good quality, well made wines with the right sort of green initiatives that can hit the consumers price bracket. The wines are out there at these prices, as was evident from the tasting.
You can watch my brief discussion with Cendrine Vimont from the Association Interprofessionnelle Des Vins Biologiques Du Languedoc-Rousillon about the organic viticulture in the South of France on the video player on the right. There’s also a quick soapbox moment from owner and winemaker Denis Auclair about the virtues of organic farming in the local area.
Any comments on the videos are welcome here.
